 Pakistan Day Observed in the Embassy of Pakistan Sofia

On the occasion of the 81st National Day of Pakistan, a simple and dignified flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Embassy Residence in Sofia, Bulgaria. Due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases and fresh restrictions imposed by the host government, the participation in the event was restricted to the Embassy staff and visiting officials from Pakistan.

The event started with the recitation of Holy Quran. It was followed by the hoisting of Pakistani flag by Ms. Mariam Madiha Aftab, Ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Bulgaria. Messages of President and Prime Minister were then read out to the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador congratulated Pakistanis all over the world and especially in Bulgaria on 81st National Day of Pakistan. While giving a brief history of the day, she admired the determination and commitment of Pakistan’s founding fathers and freedom fighters because of whom Pakistan emerged as an independent country in 1947. She also remembered the innocent Kashmiris on the occasion, who continue to suffer under the brutal Indian repression, and said that Pakistani government will continue to provide them moral, diplomatic and political support till resolution of this issue in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions. The Ambassador also urged the Pakistanis in Bulgaria to strictly follow the health guidelines given by the host government to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end of ceremony, the audience was served with refreshments.
